STUBE Alumni Homa meeting

Background

Living and studying in a new country brings a challenge for students, especially those from different countries and cultures. They are adapting to a new education system, climate and temperature, and culture often uneasy. An exchange between students helps to ease the situation. STUBE Sachsen is an organization that supports various initiatives and activities for international students, particularly those from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe. The activities such as weekend seminars, discussions, and the travel scholarship for research or internship at their countries support building networks and exchange between international students in Saxony. The travel scholarship supports the students to re-connect with potential jobs in their home country.

STUBE has started their works over 30 years, many students have participated in STUBE activities – STUBE alumni – have maintained their connection until they returned to their countries. From STUBE seminars, they got closer through discussion on the issues that close to the developing world. However, the connections are not organized and are limited to small groups of alumni. An organized network platform would help to bring the alumni together, such as through seminars, sharing sessions, and networking. The STUBE Alumni Homa meeting is the first meeting to share the idea of STUBE alumni networks to all STUBE alumni; with additional input, during the meeting, the STUBE Alumni Networks is expected:

• to organize the networks by region – for instance, Africa Chapter, Asia Chapter, Latin America Chapter, and Eastern Europe Chapter.
• to select three webinar topics for a threemonthly STUBE Alumni seminar.
