World trade - in Hamburg. Fair trade fair economy and lifestyle

Registration is closed for this event
Hamburg, 30.9. - 2.10.2022

Let's go to Hamburg!  The Port of Hamburg is one of the largest transhipment ports in the world, making the city one of the most important logistics locations in Europe. Since the first half of the 18th century, Hamburg has been regarded as the "gateway to the world", because goods such as sugar cane, palm oil or rubber arrived here from the colonies and were processed for the European market. Even today, Hamburg, with the largest free port in Germany, plays a decisive role in global world trade.

In this historic city, we want to deal with global trade, fair trade, and a just economy and way of life. Together with experts we want to find out to what extent (neo-/post-)colonial structures are still present in today's global trade and economic system.

How fair is Fair Trade? Who benefits from it? Is it possible to achieve more justice in "other" trade through fair trade? What compromises are made (in the meantime)? To what extent (neo-/post-)colonial structures are still present in today's global trade and economic system. We want to discuss these and other questions with experts.

You can expect a varied programme: besides theoretical inputs, we will have time to explore the city.

Together we will travel by train to Hamburg. There we will be accommodated in the guest house of the Mission Academy, where part of the seminar will take place.

For the registration we ask you to write a short motivation letter (Weitere Anmerkungen -Additional informations).
